Before it's even started, the Callaway County Youth Expo has a new home.
The event, which broke off from the Kingdom of Callaway County Fair in order to provide a more youth-focused experience for various organizations in the county, will now be held July 10-13 at the Auxvasse Lion's Club Park.
The expo originally planned to make use of the fairgrounds prior to the county fair, but expo executive committee member Chip Kemp said the organization was able to charter a more flexible plan with the Lion's Club that better suited the expo logistically.
"We started looking at contractual obligations once we got a contract in hand, and it just seemed like a situation that was going to be a little bit tenuous," said Kemp. "So we were doing some research on other places and it just seemed that with timing relative to other events and the contractual relationship, the Lion's Club there was going to be a bit more amiable."
Kemp said the expo, themed "Our County, Our Expo, Our Turn," would be carried out with the barn, food facility and horse arena that are at the park as part of the original county fairgrounds, as well as tents and other temporary shelter.
