No. 4 seed and host Benedictine worked its way back through the loser's bracket with four straight wins, topping it off with a 9-7 victory over No. 3 William Woods in the title game late Tuesday afternnoon, to claim the championship of the American Midwest Conference postseason baseball tournament.
The Owls - who fell to the Bulldogs 6-5 in 11 innings earlier Tuesday to force the deciding game at Robin Roberts Stadium - finished the season with a 29-17 record. William Woods amassed 13 hits in the title game but stranded nine baserunners and committed four errors.
