Auxvasse native and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) sophomore Megan Montgomery has made history by being named a member of the Junior College All-American (livestock judging) Team by the Junior College Coach Association.

Montgomery and two other students are the first students from NEO to achieve this honor. Montgomery is also the first student from the state of Missouri to be named a member.

Students are chosen for the All-American team at the last national contest for the season at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Selection is based on their academic and judging abilities. Each year, only 15 students are selected nationwide for the team.

"It's an honor," said Montgomery. "NEO has one of the richest histories and traditions in livestock judging ... but they kind of disappeared for like 10 years and this year we really came back. We worked our tails off and wanted to bring the program back and it's just an honor for me to receive that award and put the spotlight back on our program."
