Light turnout predicted in area April 2 elections in Callaway County

Many candidates running unopposed

A voter turnout of slightly less than 10 percent of the registered voters is anticipated in Tuesday's municipal and school district election in Callaway county.

Callaway County Clerk Denise Hubbard said in Callaway County the average turnout during April elections is about 10 percent of the current 20,135 registered voters.

"Because there are few issues and many candidates are unopposed," Hubbard said, "I expect a turnout in Tuesday's election of only about 2,000 people or slightly less than 10 percent of the registered voters."

Fulton

Ward 4 is the only contested seat for the Fulton City Council. Incumbent Rick Shiverdecker is opposed by Kathy Segerson.

Also running unopposed are current councilmen Wayne Chailland, Lowe Cannell and Richard Vaughn, representing wards 1, 2 and 3. Casey Clevenger is unopposed for a two-year term as city prosecuting attorney.

There will be no election for the Fulton Board of Education because all of the candidates are unopposed.
