Sarah Milne of Auxvasse and her husband James won $5,000 playing a Missouri Lottery scratchers game at the Fast Lane McStop in Kingdom City.

A brief stop at a Kingdom City convenience store on the way home from lunch resulted in an Auxvasse couple winning $5,000.

The lucky winners are James and Sarah Milne of Auxvasse.

Sarah claimed the couple's prize on a "Deuces Wild" scratchers ticket.

Sarah said she and her husband have a system for scratchers purchases. "We always buy the newest scratchers tickets," she said.

Their ritual is to buy only scratchers tickets. "He gets to scratch off the first half of the tickets," Sarah said, "and I get the next half of the tickets."

On their last visit, James scratched the first ticket and won $5. The second ticket he scratched was worth $5,000.
