Horstmeier, Murphy named all state by Missouri coaches

Fulton junior Dalton Horstmeier and recent North Callaway graduate Justin Murphy were both first-team choices on their respective all-state teams selected by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Horstmeier was named to the Class 4 squad as an infielder. He topped the Hornets this past season with a .478 batting average, 33 hits, 10 doubles, two home runs and eight stolen bases. Horstmeier was second on team with 17 runs scored and 15 runs batted in, and was tied for second with one triple.

Murphy - who has signed to play at Mineral Area Junior College (see photo on Page 10) - was selected to the Class 3 team as a pitcher. He finished with a 6-3 record this past season for the Thunderbirds, logging a .51 earned-run average, striking out a school-record 115 and issuing only 15 walks.
