Callaway Humane Society develops new separate fundraising organization

June 6th, 2013 in News

For a group dedicating to helping Callaway County's homeless, abused and neglected animals; the Callaway County Humane Society spent an awful lot of time worrying about funding.

CCHS President Sandy Corbet hopes this will change soon with the formation of a new, separate organization focusing exclusively on funding for the cash-strapped organization, leaving the humane society's board of directors free to focus on its job.

Corbet said the board voted Tuesday to start the group, which will function similarly to the Friends of the Callaway County Public Library. It will be headed by event organizer and Humane Society volunteer Angel Blankenship.

"She's just a fundraising fool and loves doing things like that," Corbet said. "She and I talked about (fundraising) last month, but we talked at it more seriously Tuesday. She'll get her own business license and 501(c)3, and when we need money, we'll go to her for that money."
