For more than two-thirds of a century, Audrey Lammers of Fulton has been playing the organ for church services at Fulton United Church of Christ.

On Sunday, she plans to retire as the church's full-time organist.

Lammers said she began playing the organ at the church as a soloist at the age of 19 in 1943.

She later became a substitute organist for Freida Mittweede, who was the full-time organist from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Lammers became the full-time organist during the 1980s. She tried to retire about 20 years later but continued as the organist because no one else was available to take over. That has lasted almost 15 years until this week.
