Volunteers wanted for Churchill Museum outreach program

July 21st, 2013 in News

The National Churchill Museum hopes to expand its programming to include area schools and organizations, but it needs help.

The institution is looking for volunteers to take part in the return of its ongoing outreach program, which would hold special programs and workshops with school groups both at the museum and throughout mid-Missouri.

"We've been discussing it for a while, but we're trying to do outreach programs more," Education and Public Programs Coordinator Mandy Plybon said. "My focus this year is to do more outreach, and I'm only one person, so I'm looking for people to help me do those outreach programs as well as to help in field trips in the spring."

The program would have volunteers traveling throughout Callaway County and other central Missouri communities with the goal of "inspiring lifelong learning" through programming. They also would help at the museum with field trips and other educational events during the spring.

Plybon said she is primarily looking for retired educators, tutors, homeschool parents or others with an educational background.
