Callaway County eyes road project northeast of Millersburg

In addition to building a new bridge over Middle River, Callaway County also is considering improvements along County Road 230 using all county funds.

Callaway County Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann said the project is located northeast of Millersburg, about 1.5 miles east of State Route J.

"To prevent excessive washing of the road near a creek, we would like to improve the ditches to make them deeper and line them with shot-rock," Jungermann said.

The estimated $50,000 project, he said, would be done by employees of the county's Road and Bridge Department.

He said the existing culvert is too small to handle the water flow from a creek. To improve the road, the county needs to replace the culvert with a structure similar to a small bridge.
