Eight departments fight Holts Summit fire

Firefighters from eight departments fought a blaze Friday evening at Doolittle Trailer Manufacturing in Holts Summit.

Volunteers from the Holts Summit Fire Protection District responded shortly after 5 p.m. to a commercial structure fire at the trailer manufacturing firm.

When they arrived, firemen found heavy smoke coming from one of the facility's buildings and began to fight the flames inside.

Because the facility has several buildings in the manufacturing complex, firefighting units from seven other jurisdictions responded.

South Callaway Fire, New Bloomfield Fire, Central Callaway Fire, Fulton Fire, Millersburg Fire, North Callaway Fire, and the Jefferson City Fire Department each sent apparatus and personnel to assist in fire suppression and safety tasks.

In addition to the firefighting units, the Holts Summit Auxiliary was on the scene providing support services to units from all responding departments.

There were no reported injuries to the facility's staff or fire personnel, which was not operating at the time of the fire. No cause of the blaze has not been determined.
