Holts Summit to move to new City Hall

City Hall to be closed from July 4 to July 8

The Holts Summit City Hall will close at 5 p.m. today and not reopen until Monday morning at 8 a.m. at a new location nearby at 213 S. Summit Drive.

"We picked the July 4 weekend as an ideal time to move to the new City Hall," said Holts Summit City Administrator Brian Crane.

The current City Hall will be closed on Thursday in observance of Independence Day. It also will be closed on Friday for the move to the building purchased next door that will become the new City Hall.

That will give the city a head start in moving furniture and equipment to the new building, a former bank building.

Crane said the Holts Summit Police Department had outgrown space it has in the lower level of the current City Hall at 245 South Summit Drive.

Instead of constructing a new Police Station, Crane said it was far less expensive to purchase a building that became available just north of City Hall and use that as the new City Hall. The Police Department will occupy the entire building, not just the lower level of the building.
