American bald eagle visits Fulton

American bald eagle visits Fulton

July 3rd, 2013 in News

Two blue jays squawk loudly trying to chase away an unconcerned American bald eagle who decided to make a brief stop Monday afternoon in the backyard of Eric and Karen Truman of Fulton.

With American Independence Day just around the corner, an American bald eagle decided to visit Fulton Monday evening in the backyard of Eric and Karen Truman.

"I was taking the garbage out Monday evening shortly before 5 p.m.," Truman said, "when I heard some blue jays making a loud racket in an old dead hickory tree. I looked up and saw a huge American bald eagle eyeing me."

Truman rushed back into the house and got his camera and took several photos of the bald eagle and the squawking blue jays.

"The blue jays were trying to run the eagle off. But he wasn't paying any attention to them. He just sat there in the tree looking around," Truman said.

He was surprised the bald eagle was in his backyard in Fulton. "When the eagle flew away," Truman said, "I noticed he was huge. He also was quite a contrast to the much smaller birds in the tree."
