David Jones, professor of psychology and associate dean of faculty at Westminster College, has been elected to the National Council of the Alpha Chi academic honorary society.
The academic honorary organization is governed by the National Council, which includes 15 faculty members elected nationwide.
This year a new procedure was used to introduce each of the candidates for the council. Each candidate presented videotaped biographies available on Youtube. The videos were shown on monitors during registration at the organization's annual convention. Delegates also received biographical information on the candidates before the convention and in registration packets.
Jones and other new members will serve as members of the National Council until 2017.
Alpha Chi is a national academic honorary society with membership limited to the top 10 percent of junior and senior classes.
At Westminster, Alpha Chi is the most prestigious national academic honorary society. Only the top 10 percent of the senior class and the top 5 percent of the junior class at Westminster are eligible to be members of the honorary society.
"I am proud and honored to have been re-elected by convention delegates as an at-large faculty member of the Alpha Chi National Council," Jones said.
