The capital murder trial of a Sept. 1, 2011, double homicide of two rural Auxvasse residents is not likely to start for another year, Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Wilson said Monday.
Wilson said the court docket of the state public defender who specializes in death penalty first-degree murder trials is extremely crowded and the Auxvasse double homicide case is not likely to go to trial until the middle of 2014.
On Monday, several motions were heard in Callaway County Circuit Court in the first-degree capital murder case against Ryan Christopher Coari, 30, of Mexico, Mo.
Coari is accused of murdering a rural Auxvasse area man and his daughter almost two years ago then setting fire to the man's home, which burned to the ground.
Circuit Judge Gary M. Oxenhandler on Monday approved Prosecuting Attorney Chris Wilson's motion for proposed trial witnesses.
