SERVE seeks recipes for fundraiser

SERVE is asking Callawegians to share their favorite foods as a way to help some of their neighbors put food on the table.

Julie Roark, director of SERVE's Callaway Action Network is gathering recipes for the We CAN Cook! cookbook, which the organization will use as a fundraiser this March.

"We are requesting submissions of all types - the more unique the better," Roark said. "We're trying to make it fun."

She said SERVE officials came up with the idea for the cookbook because they wanted to do something they had never done before.

"We kind of thought it fit with what we do," Roark said.

The book will have numerous sections, including one on frugal living, and Roark said they are hoping to collect 300 recipes and other hints.

"Here at the office we're trying to come up with recipes that help you stretch your dollars - a meal that will fit a budget, but still be enjoyable," she said.
