Since its opening, Well Read Books in downtown Fulton has had a special section highlighting local books and authors. The store now is shining the spotlight on Callaway artists as well.
From 5-7 p.m. on Feb. 7, Well Read will host an Art Opening and Ladies' Night featuring the work of Fulton artist Jennifer Alexander. There also will be a pre-Valentine's Day sale with 14 percent off all gift items, cards and some new books.
"It's just kind of a meet-and-greet chance for people to meet her," Well read owner Danielle Warren said of the event, which she also noted was timed to coincide with nearby Smockingbird's Unique Gift's and Accessories' monthly Ladies' Night. "I think it will just be a fun event. We'll have music playing and wine, and other stores will be open - it's just a different way to experience downtown."
Warren said providing space for artists to display their work is something she and husband Brian always wanted to do at Well Read.
"Local art makes sense at the local book store," she said. "When (Alexander) came in we jumped at the chance."
