Successful bond issue leaves Fulton schools looking at options

Fulton Public Schools have successfully completed all the projects included in the district's $7.3 million 2010 Bond Issue - and a few more besides.

Superintendent Jacque Cowherd presented the school board with a bond summary at its regular meeting Wednesday night, which included the news that there still are approximately $657,025 in unallocated funds.

That $657,025 is due, in large part, to a number of the original bond projects coming in under budget, including:

• Reconfiguring the entrances of the middle school and high school to make them more safe and construction of an ADA ramp, estimated at $375,000 had an actual cost of $157,816.

• Communication upgrades, including a new phone system were estimated at $250,000 but had an actual cost of $210,563.

• Putting in security cameras at all of the elementary schools and the administration building and adding more cameras at the high school and middle school was estimated at $330,000 and had an actual cost of $306,690.

• Roofing repairs at all district buildings was estimated at $1.975 million had an actual cost of $1.742 million.

• Security cameras on district buses was estimated at $105,000 and had an actual cost of $72,767.
