After Tuesday's winter storm cut off a hefty chunk of its customers, the Callaway County Electric Cooperative had power restored to all of its customers Wednesday afternoon.
"We had nearly half our system off-line, but we've got everybody back now. We turned our last customer on at about 3:45 this afternoon," Manager of Administration Clint Smith said, noting that 6,500 customers throughout the county were without power at the peak of the cooperative's outage.
With the first outage calls coming in at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday, that meant some customers could have been without power for as long as 38 hours.
Callaway Electric had 40 linemen working in shifts around the clock to get its customers back online, including crews borrowed from the City of Fulton and other cooperatives.
