Brian Gilmore of Williamsburg is used to putting his strength to good use.
Since he began weightlifting after getting into it through a friend at church, the Fulton native has held lifting records in Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana and Kentucky, and currently utilizes his strength for his moving company, Strong Man Moving.
Now that his daughter, Paige, is graduating from North Callaway High School, he's using his brawn to organize the county's first Strongman Challenge.
The Callaway County Strongman Challenge will begin 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at the former Moser's parking lot on Bluff Street in Fulton, with proceeds benefiting the North Callaway Class of 2013's All Night Party. The event is free and open to the public, while the entry fee for participants is $35, due by March 9, or $50 for late entrants after.
"We wanted to raise money for the senior class, and I always enjoyed doing the weightlifting and the competition," said Gilmore. "By getting the high school kids involved in it, it will help raise money for the senior class and be really fun."
