Auxvasse couple earns $5,000 for North Callaway programs through grant

A Monsanto grant program has allowed an Auxvasse couple to give back to their alma mater.

Tim and Barbie Lubbers won $5,000 for North Callaway High School's FFA chapter and Athletic Booster Club through the America's Farmers Grow Communities fund. Checks will be presented for the programs between the upcoming basketball games, 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 in the North Callaway gym.

Family farmers, the Lubbers had been approached about the grant fund, established by Monsanto to "highlight the important contributions farmers make every day" to local communities.

"We heard about them doing this in other places, and when they approached him, he said "sure, sign us up for it,'" said Barbie Lubbers. "They said we could choose where it went and we asked about North Callaway."
