MSD boys reach championship at GPSD Tournament

SULPHUR, Okla. - Senior guard Kijuan Monroe generated half of Missouri School for the Deaf's output, delivering a game-high 17 points Friday night in the Eagles' 34-20 semifinal win over New Mexico at the 24th-annual Great Plains Schools for the Deaf Tournament.

Monroe also came up with six steals for MSD (9-10) as it posted its second straight victory in reaching the championship against Illinois late Saturday night. Illinois advanced with a 40-37 triumph over reigning tournament champion Minnesota in Friday night's other semifinal.

Results from Saturday night's title game were not available at press time. MSD won at Iowa 49-33 on Dec. 8.
