Auxvasse to celebrate holidays with parade, chili, crafts

Christmas is coming here Sunday.

Auxvasse area residents are invited to kick off the holiday season with the annual Christmas parade and an afternoon of treats and crafts for children and adults alike downtown.

Things get started with the fourth annual LeRoy Stubblefield Chili Cookoff 1-3 p.m. at the Auxvasse Community Hall, 104 S. Main St.

Also from 1-3 p.m. at the community hall, the Auxvasse Creative Arts Program will be serving hot chocolate and cookies and doing Christmas crafts for kids. Jenny Bondurant said those crafts include decorating stocking caps and coloring sheets.

Santa Claus will be in attendance, taking pictures in Mottaz Park next to City Hall.

Line up for the parade starts at 2 p.m. at Auxvasse Elementary School, with parade start time set for 3 p.m.

"I'm looking forward to seeing the community come out and spend time together to celebrate the holidays," City Clerk Missy Hooks said of the annual event.
