Dozens recover stolen items from FPD

Most property still unclaimed

Just a portion of the unclaimed stolen property recovered by the Fulton Police Department fills the station's sally port Wednesday. FPD is urging central Missouri residents to file reports with their local law enforcement agencies before bringing the report to Fulton if they suspect property has been stolen from their home or storage unit.

The sally port at the Fulton Police Department looked more like a rummage sale Wednesday as it was filled nearly wall to wall with stolen property officers recovered last Friday.

Chief Steve Myers said that dozens of people had visited the station as of Wednesday afternoon and many more had made phone calls inquiring about specific items after officers asked the public to make reports of any thefts in the past several months.

"If people find something missing from their house, storage unit or yard, they should make a report to the local law enforcement agency where they live and then bring the report to us," Myers said, noting his department believes the thefts occurred throughout the mid-Missouri area.
