Bulldogs dodge injuries at jamboree

Tim Rulo exhaled and expressed a sentiment most likely shared by every high school football coach in the state of Missouri.

Rulo - heading into his fifth season at South Callaway - was understandably relieved that his Bulldogs emerged without any injuries from Saturday night's preseason jamboree scrimmages against host Hallsville, Southern Boone and Father Tolton.

"I'm telling you, that's the scariest thing," Rulo said. "I was talking with the Tolton coach and they had a young man, they think, get a concussion. I'm just so glad that no one got hurt. It's just such a balance, with the new rules, with the heat acclimation and all that, trying to make sure our mixture of guys are ready - physically, mentally and emotionally.

"We were glad we were able to do this, there are definitely things we want to get better at, for sure. But man oh man, we were just happy that no one got hurt. That's really the biggest thing."
