Commission leaves county tax rate unchanged

No changes were made when the Callaway County Commission met Monday to set the county's tax rate for next year.

Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann said the tax rate stayed the same for county general revenue and for the county road and bridge fund.

The tax rate for the county's general revenue for 2013 was set at .3135 cents per $100 assessed valuation, the same rate as in 2012.

The tax rate for the county's road and bridge fund for 2013 was set at .2466 cents per $100 assessed valuation, the same as in 2012.

Western District Commissioner Doc Kritzer said the county's total adjusted assessed valuation for 2013 is $741,982,487, compared to $739,716,380 in 2012, an increase of $2,266,107.

The total tax bill of each taxpayer will vary, depending upon other entities sharing real estate and property tax revenue with the county. Those entities include school districts with varying tax levies, as well as the several fire districts within the county and other taxing entities.
