VFW brunch to benefit Fulton animal shelter

The Fulton VFW has expanded its menu - and service.

The post is used to serving up pork steaks, fried chicken and fish for the community to help pay for their veterans support activities, but members have wanted to give back to the community at large.

The VFW is hosting a brunch fundraiser 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25. A $10 donation per person gives diners a full breakfast menu, fried chicken, ham and a salad bar, all cooked fresh at the VFW. Proceeds will go to the building fund to construct a new city-run animal shelter, that would replace the current facility that was formerly a swimming pool at Veterans Park in Fulton.

"We do a lot of Friday night meals to benefit the club, but I thought we need to do something for the community," Steve Harding of the VFW said. "We do a lot for the veterans, but we thought it was time to give a little more input to Fulton."

To help the tornado-stricken people of Dumas and surroundings, donations can be made to the Delta Area Disaster Relief Fund, care of the Delta Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 894, Dumas, AR, 71639, or through the Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 S. Rock St., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
