A 12-week physical fitness exercise program designed for older adults will be offered in Fulton during September and November.
The training program for adults age 50 and up will be offered by the University of Missouri Extension Service at the Callaway County Extension Center at 4950 County Road 304 in Fulton every Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. starting Sept. 4 and ending Nov. 20.
Lynda Zimmerman, University of Missouri extension nutrition and health education specialist, will lead the strength, flexibility and balance class.
Zimmerman said participants of the Stay Strong exercise program report they feel stronger, have more energy and are more flexible. Many also say they sleep better and have less pain in their joints.
Zimmerman said other benefit of strength training include increased metabolism, stronger bones and healthier blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
