National Day of Prayer set on May 2

The National Day of Prayer will take place on May 2 this year.

In honor of this day, Callaway County Clergy will be hosting a prayer service at City Hall, located at 18 4th Street. The service will start at noon, should last for approximately 30 minutes and is open to any who wish to attend.

"We like to keep it short, so people can come over their lunch, and be back in time for work," said Pastor Bruce Williamson, a member of the Callaway Clergy. "We'd like for anyone in town who wants to come to attend."

In addition to the prayer service, patriotic songs will be included in the service, to reflect the national tenor of the event.

"This (event) creates a really sweet spirit for the community," Williamson said.

There will be no strict assignments of parts or scripture for the event. According to Williamson, this is intentional.

"We want to people to get as involved as they want to," he said. "We have a few ministers and lay people that can come and go and participate as they please."
