For an event planned in just six or seven weeks, last year's inaugural Fourth of July parade in Fulton was a huge success, parade committee member David Beaver said.
Beaver and his fellow committee-members don't expect lightning to strike twice, however. This year they've started the planning stages far in advance, meeting Wednesday afternoon in the Fulton Police Department to begin discussing logistics.
This year's parade will kick off 11 a.m. July 4 in front of the Fulton Country Club, following the same path down 10th and Court streets towards to end at Memorial Park. The second parade will feature Callaway County's World War II veterans sharing the duties of grand marshal, and committee members Beaver and Tom Maupin are looking for the community's help in identifying candidates.
"Any World War II vet who would like to take part can contact me or Tom or Debo Funeral Home and ask for Lori (Dillon,)" said Beaver. "Veterans from Callaway County are going to be grand marshall on a flaot all to themselves, and we want as many as we can get."
