KCA Track Club supports animal shelter initiative

Situated across from the Garret Animal Shelter, the Kingdom Christian Academy (KCA) gets a daily glimpse of the fundraising thermometer that signifies the progress toward their fundraising goal for the new animal shelter initiative.

The academy's track club, which consists of 17 students ranging from fifth to eighth grade, has decided they will not sit idly by as the thermometer rises. Instead, they have decided to host a benefit 5K walk/run to fundraise money for the initiative-which aims to raise $250,000 by 2014 to relocate the animal shelter.

The 5k will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27. Registration for the event is due this Thursday, April 18. For a fee of $20, registration includes a long-sleeve event shirt and eligibility for medals. Late registration and an entry fee of $15 dollars will be accepted until the day of the event, however no shirts will be available.

Registration can be dropped off at the KCA office or mailed to 650 E. 8th St. Checks should be made payable to KCA.

Divisions include young pups (children up to 13), house trained dogs (ages 14-35) and pack leaders (ages 36 and up). Awards will be given for first, second and third place for each division.
