Bulldogs' Kemper, Horstman combine to baffle Southern Boone

South Callaway junior starter Smith Kemper and sophomore reliever Luke Horstman combined on a one-hitter Thursday night as the Bulldogs stifled Southern Boone 4-1.

Kemper didn't allow a hit and struck out six while giving up an unearned run in five innings, departing with the game tied 1-1. Horstman worked two innings to earn the victory, surrendering a hit and striking out two.

"Both Smith and Luke threw really well," South Callaway head coach Jared Wood said. "They kept the ball down and threw a lot of strikes. Our defense - for the most part - made plays behind them."
