Consultant to discuss impact of SMRs in Callaway County

Jim Moody, a former state budget director and now government consultant, will be the featured speaker April 11 at the annual Fulton Area Development Corporation (FADC) Salute Banquet.

"This is a wonderful and very timely opportunity for our local business community to hear firsthand how the small modular nuclear reactor project proposed by Ameren and Westinghouse has the economic potential to surpass anything this state has ever seen from a development perspective," said FADC President Bruce Hackmann of Fulton.

Hackmann said Moody has conducted extensive research on the economic impact and opportunities offered by the proposed Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project in the state of Missouri, and the Central Missouri region in particular.

"This will be the main focus of Moody's presentation at the Business Salute Banquet," Hackmann said.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour at the Tucker Dining Hall at William Woods University. The dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. and the program will follow at 7 p.m.
