Kathy Segerson congratulates her opponent, Rick Shiverdecker, for successfully defending his Ward 4 seat on the Fulton City Council. Segerson, who lost last year's election by five votes and this year's by 33, vowed to run again.

In a 33-vote lead, Rick Shiverdecker held on to his seat as Ward 4 city councilman of Fulton, securing another two-year term.

Shiverdecker beat out recurring contender Kathy Segerson with 69 percent of the vote, or 56 votes to 23. There were two write-in votes for that ward.

"I'm excited to get back to work taking care of the issues of the city," said Shiverdecker. "We can put (elections) behind us."

Segerson ran for a Ward 4 council seat last year, losing to longtime councilman Steve Moore by a razor-thin margin of five votes.

Segerson said that she was disappointed with the loss, but was undeterred in her efforts to help lead the city.

"I would have liked to win, but Mr. Shiverdecker has done a great job and the city is in good hands," said Segerson. "But I will run again next year."
