Fundraiser set to benefit Amvets highway markers

A fundraising dinner to benefit the effort to mark State Road 94 as AMVETS Memorial Highway will be on Sunday, Oct. 7, in Mokane.

Bob Spencer of Mokane, who organized the effort to mark the highway, said the $10 donation dinner will be at the Albert & Joann Litel Memorial Pavilion in Mokane.

The dinner is sponsored by Amvets Post 153, the Sons of Amvets and the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary.

Spencer said Gary & the Boys Band will entertain from 2-6 p.m.

Food, which will be served from noon to 6 p.m., will be provided by Bobby D's. It includes fried chicken or ham, potatoes and gravy, green beans and salad.

Missouri law requires organizations asking the Missouri General Assembly to approve highway designations to pay for the signs, prompting fundraising events by the Amvets post in Mokane
