New controller hired by Westminster College

Worked previously at Missouri State

Beth Schmidt, a certified public accountant from Springfield, Mo., is the new controller in the business office of Westminster College in Fulton.

Phil Daniels, vice president for business and chief financial officer, said Schmidt is skilled in accounting operations, budget development and financial statement preparation. He said she also has a background in higher education.

"This experience, along with leadership skills and her understanding of the importance of customer service, will allow her to hit the ground running and add immediate value to the business office," Daniels said.

Schmidt has been employed the last six years as assistant director of accounting and budgeting at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. She helped develop, organize and maintain the university's $245 million internal operating budget and multiple university building projects.

Before her employment with Missouri State University, Schmidt worked for 10 years as the senior staff accountant for McCullough, Officer and Co., LLC, an audit firm in Springfield.
