Fulton's newest eatery, Café Créme, is offering local residents something to satisfy both their caffeine cravings and their sweet tooth.

Owner Shawna Bruns said she hopes to provide a fun atmosphere along with gourmet coffee, pastries, cupcakes, sandwiches, salads and soup for her customers.

A longtime worker in the food services in Fulton - with stints at Texas Willy's, The Grille and the Busy Corner Café - Bruns said she was inspired to open her new restaurant by her time at Westwood Coffee, which she said was her favorite job.

"I like coffee shops because it's just an atmosphere. It's just a more fun atmosphere and you have a lot of freedom to be creative," Bruns said. "I thought it was something Fulton needed and it gives me the freedom to have a job I love and be able to be home with my son at night because we close early."

Located at 510 S. Business 54, Café Créme is open from 5:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Open since Tuesday, Bruns said her favorite thing about owning a coffee shop thus far is the people.

"I love just the fact I've been able to do this and see my customers again; we're already seeing regular customers coming in," she said. "It's been nice hearing people's compliments and hearing that we're doing the right thing and that the choices on the menu are right."
