The South Callaway Bulldogs and North Callaway Thunderbirds normally tussle over a travelling trophy as the prized possession when they clash in their annual Callaway Cup football rivalry.
That piece of hardware, though, is a trivial trinket compared to what will be on the line tonight when North Callaway travels to Mokane for a Class 2, District 6 semifinal showdown against state-ranked South Callaway. Kickoff is at 7.
Both teams are riding strong surges heading into tonight's confrontation.
The second-seeded Bulldogs (9-1) - ranked 10th - have won five in a row since suffering their only loss of the season to Class 1-ranked Tipton. Meanwhile, the third-seeded Thunderbirds (8-2) have forged an eight-game winning streak after starting 0-2, including a 27-13 loss to South Callaway in the season opener in Kingdom City.
