Pumpkins in the Park to return Tuesday

Fulton's jack-o-lantern sculptors will have a chance to showcase their art when the Parks and Recreation Department host their 2nd annual Pumpkins in the Park event Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Memorial Park.

Those who wish to compete may drop off their carved pumpkin 2-6 p.m. at the park. The pumpkins will be put on display around the new gazebo at the park, and lit up at 6:30. They will be left on display for Halloween, and candles will be furnished.

City recreational programmer Sharlene McArtor said last year's inaugural event drew about 30 to 35 pumpkins, and she hoped that Pumpkins in the Park would continue to grow.

"We thought it was a decent turnout in order for us to build upon it, and it being a new event we thought it wasn't a bad turnout for that first year," McArtor said. "Eventually, we'd love to turn it into a type of fall festival with other events taking place."
