The Fulton Lady Hornets, the host and No. 3 seed in the Class 3, District 9 tournament held court in their first round match with the sixth-seeded Mexico Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Hornets ousted the Lady Bulldogs in straight-set scores of 25-15 and 25-15 at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium on Monday night.
Senior libero Allie Pierce led the way with 12 digs, senior outsdie hitter Rachelle Miller put away a team-high nine kills and senior setter Melissa Hoerber tallied seven kills of her own to go along with 18 assists.
With the win, Fulton (19-8-2) plays the second-seeded Kirksville Lady Tigers in the district semifinals at 7 p.m. tonight.
