Hornets hope to build off first victory

With the pressure of a first win off its back and the Highway 54 sign back in its locker room, the Fulton Hornets football team can now move on to more pressing matters.

Those matters? Stringing together consecutive wins for the first time in three seasons and improving its positioning for the start district play next week under the state's new playoff system.

Fulton travels to Kirksville tonight for its regular-season finale, a North Central Missouri Conference tilt against the Tigers. Kickoff is set for 7.

"We broke through last week and we just want to try and keep the momentum and the consistency," Hornets head coach Pat Kelley said during Thursday's walk-through practice at Robert E. Fisher Jr. Stadium. "Kirksville is a tough place to play, another tough conference school and we've just been emphasizing that all week. Staying consistent."
