Because of an unusual local arrangement, anyone who contributes to the Callaway County United Way can now be assured that 100 percent of the public's donations will go directly toward people in need.
Glenn Harris, vice president of Callaway Bank and president of the Callaway County United Way, said four local companies are now paying all administrative costs of the local United Way.
"We are really proud," Harris said, "that the Callaway County United Way can now say "100 percent of your contribution goes directly to people in need in our community.' "
Harris said the Callaway County United way already had a very low overhead percentage.
"We do not have an office space, pay rent, utilities and other costs associated with a business. However," Harris said, "the local United Way has created a unique partnership with four businesses in the community to eliminate all overhead expenses."
The four companies participating in the effort to defray all administrative expenses are Ovid Bell Press, Central Bank, The Callaway Bank and the Fulton Dollar General Distribution Center. Their corporate donations will cover all overhead costs of the United Way.
