Westminster takes top ranks in student diversity

November 16th, 2012 in News

A national report of comprehensive statistics states that Westminster College takes first in Missouri and fifth nationwide as the liberal arts college with the most internationally diverse campus by percentage.

Open Doors 2012, a report conducted by the National Institute for International Education released Nov. 12, holds that Westminster's international population make up 16 percent of the school's student body, tying them for fifth place with Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. Westminster College had approximately 191 students from other countries enrolled for the 2011-2012 school year.

Courtney Richter, director of International Student Services at Westminster, said that partnering with the Davis United World College program has bolstered the college's reputation with international students. Westminster's program in 2000 had just 37 foreign students.

"We already have this international perspective," she said. "We're known for being internationally focused... not just on our students, but our programs and our faculty are really involved in getting everything globalized."
