The Fulton Sub Shop, 1213 South Business 54, will celebrate its grand opening Wednesday.
Located in Fulton at the former Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant building, the Fulton Sub Shop will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday featuring Ambassadors representing the Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce.
The newly remodeled 1,530-square-foot restaurant is co-owned and managed by Matt McMellen and Tamara Dougherty. They have 14 employees.
"We know people will like our sandwiches and our big selection of pizza. We will feature tasty sub sandwiches that are toasted as they move along a conveyor belt through a convection oven," McMellen said.
All sandwiches will be toasted, McMellen said, unless the customers request untoasted sandwiches. "Our toasted sandwiches are really good," McMellen said.
The fresh bread, which is baked as needed during the day and night from scratch, is French style with a choice of white, wheat or rye. "That makes a big difference. Our bread is better and our subs taste a lot better than our competition," McMellen said.
The restaurant features a completely remodeled interior.
"We have five double booths across the east front of the restaurant and five elevated tables and chairs. We also will deliver orders. And if people call ahead they will be able to pick up their order at a window. We also plan to add a regular drive-through window at a later date," McMellen said.
