The Callaway Betterment Foundation's building fund for construction of a new animal shelter in Fulton has reached $156,000, or about 63 percent of its $250,000 goal, according to Fulton Mayor LeRoy Benton.
Benton proposed the idea to raise funds for the new animal shelter, which has been well received by Fulton residents.
To help support the fundraising effort, interested Fulton residents can buy $1 raffle tickets or six tickets for $5. The winning ticket will receive a painting by Wayne Legge, a Fulton artist.
Proceeds from the raffle will go toward the new Fulton Animal Shelter fundraising effort.
The winner of the raffle can choose a print created by Legge of downtown Fulton at night during the Christmas season or an original commissioned painting by Legge of the home of the raffle winner.
Tickets can be purchased through Dec. 31 at Fulton City Hall, Garrett Animal Shelter, or the Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce.
The drawing will be at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 inside City Hall. The winner does not need to be present at the drawing.
