Computer problems will delay mailing of Callaway County real estate and property tax bills this year.
Pam J. Oestreich, Callaway County collector, said her office is now using an updated computer program to prepare annual county real estate and property tax bills. The bills are mailed to about 36,000 Callaway County taxpayers.
"We have a new tax software program. We are going over the new program to make sure everything is as it should be," Oestreich said.
"We found a few issues that need to be addressed prior to the mailing. It's taking us longer this year to prepare the bills because we need to do some fine tuning and checking along the way to make sure everything is functioning properly," Oestreich said.
The collector said her office tries to mail the county tax bills by Nov. 1 but this year they will be mailed a few days later than normal.
Oestreich said she hopes the 2012 Callaway County real estate and personal property tax bills will be mailed late next week.
"The computer program we had been using was old and outdated. Our new program is more updated and user friendly," Oestreich said.
