Hornets cripple selves in opening loss to Boonville

Though a driving rain made it seem so, Fulton Hornets baseball coach Darren Masek wasn't convinced the sky was falling down on his team.

If anything, Masek feels that with more games under their belt, his Hornets will be OK.

But he's not excusing some of the fundamental lapses he saw out of his squad against the Boonville Pirates.

Passed balls, walks and a lack of two-out execution doomed Fulton, which opened the season with a 9-5 North Central Missouri Conference loss to the Pirates at the high school athletic complex on Tuesday night.
