Fulton State Hospital has heard the appraised price for the old stone barn and the approximately 12 acres on which it stands, according to Historic Preservation Commission president Dale Lewis at their monthly meeting Tuesday.
Lewis said the land was appraised at $18,000, and that hospital staff were interested in a like-kind exchange to relinquish the property to the city.
The 19th century barn, originally part of the hospital's self-sufficient farming operations, has stood largely disused and neglected for decades. It was placed on the Missouri Preservation list of most endangered historic places this year, along with the thousands of other barns in the state.
