Awards presented for hiring veterans

The Dollar General Distribution Center in Fulton and the City of Fulton were honored Thursday for hiring veterans.

Receiving Flag of Freedom Awards were Steve McCormick, representing Dollar General, and Mayor LeRoy Benton, representing the City of Fulton.

Benton and McCormick went online and pledged to hire at least one veteran as part of the state's "Pledge of Support to Missouri's Veterans" program.

The Flag of Freedom Award is a certificate printed on parchment paper with an embroidered, foliage-green American flag on the certificate and placed in a wooden frame. Each foliage-green flag was worn by a Missouri National Guardsman serving in Afghanistan.
