Surrounded by artifacts and black and white photographs collected from around the county, Carmen McEwen and Sheila Guthrie are hard at work.

The two women - volunteers at the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society - have been setting up The Kingdom at Work display at the National Churchill Museum since last Monday. They expect to finish around the middle of this week. However, the expansive project started long before January.

In April 2011, McEwen and Guthrie took on the project, not long after hearing The Way We Worked Smithsonian Institution exhibition would be coming to Fulton. In order for the Churchill Museum to gain approval to host the Smithsonian exhibit, it had to agree to feature a local aspect of the display. The historical society stepped up to the task.
